Mission Statement

The mission of the Reach out and Engage Next-gen Electrical Workers (RENEW) initiative is to inspire the next generation of IBEW workers to become active in their local union by focusing on issues important to younger workers, providing education about the IBEW and the labor movement, and fostering relationships with members and local union leadership.

RENEW is an IBEW-wide initiative dedicated to creating opportunities for members 35 and under, and helping them develop the skills to shape our union’s future.

  • Connect young workers to the history, values, and benefits of the IBEW.
  • Create a space to talk about issues on the job, at home, and in our communities.
  • Build confidence so the next generation is ready to step into leadership.

About the 602 RENEW Committee

The 602 RENEW Committee is a group of members committed to making sure younger workers have a voice in how our Local grows, organizes, and adapts for the future.

We are not a separate union, club, or clique. We are part of IBEW Local 602, working alongside the Business Manager, officers, staff, and Executive Board. Our goal is to help connect newer members to the union and give them the tools and support they need to become active, informed, and confident leaders.

How to Get Involved with 602 RENEW

You don’t have to “know everything” about the union to get involved. RENEW is exactly where you learn it. Whether you’re a first-year apprentice or a journeyman looking to give back, there’s a place for you.

1. Show up

  • Attend a 602 RENEW committee meeting
  • Introduce yourself to the chair or officers
  • Ask what projects are already underway

2. Plug into a project

  • Help with a community service or volunteer event
  • Assist with communications or social media
  • Join a sub-committee: events, education, or outreach

3. Grow as a leader

  • Take on a small role and build from there
  • Attend trainings and educational sessions
  • Learn how to chair meetings and move motions

Not sure where to start? Fill out the interest form, or talk to a job steward or Local officer and let them know you’d like to connect with the 602 RENEW Committee.
